That little car-with-a-key icon is your immobiliser throwing shade—it thinks the key isn’t the right one or can’t hear it properly.

Common culprits include:

• Flat or weak key fob battery.
• Key not recognised or not programmed (often after a battery change).
• Faulty key transponder or the antenna ring near the ignition/start button.
• Interference from other keys, RFID cards, or a metal key bundle.
• Low 12V battery or a blown fuse making the BCM sulk.

Try a fresh fob battery, hold the fob against the start button, or unlock with the physical key and retry; if it persists, you’ll need diagnostics.

If the light stays on while driving, don’t panic, but book an auto electrician or dealer before it graduates from “annoying” to “stranded.”
