car wobbles at high speed Page 9190

At high speed, a wobble isn’t your car “vibing”; it’s shouting for help.

Road-feel should be silky at 100 km/h; if it’s jittery, something’s out of whack.

  • Wheels/tyres out of balance or uneven tyre wear (most common).
  • Bent rim or a tyre with a broken belt/bulge.
  • Wheel alignment out, or worn suspension/steering parts (tie-rod ends, ball joints, bushings).
  • Warped brake rotors can add a shimmy under braking, even if it’s smooth off-throttle.
  • Loose wheel nuts or a failing wheel bearing (fix yesterday).

Start with a wheel balance and rotation, inspect tyres and rims, then get an alignment and suspension check.

If the wobble persists, book a proper inspection—better a short workshop visit than a long wait for a tow.
