caravan anti sway system Page 675

Ah, the caravan anti-sway system, your trusty sidekick against the dreaded fishtailing on Aussie highways. These systems, often electronic or mechanical, detect and counteract trailer sway by applying brakes to individual wheels or modulating the tow vehicle's brakes. A popular choice is the electronic stability control (ESC) that kicks in automatically, while mechanical sway control devices clamp onto the caravan's hitch to add resistance.

Benefits include:

• Improved towing stability
• Enhanced safety
• Less driver fatigue on long hauls

Prices range widely, from about $500 AUD for basic mechanical systems to over $2,000 AUD for sophisticated electronic setups. Check out CarShowroom or Tradingpost for used options that might save your wallet from a rocky ride.
