Caravans made in China run the gamut from perfectly decent value to “surprise! that screw shouldn’t be there,” so judge them on build, not birthplace.

Look for an Australian compliance plate, tidy wiring to local standards, a solid chassis (galvanised is a bonus), and properly sealed joints to keep the rain where it belongs.

Ask about payload figures versus actual tare, suspension hardware (independent vs leaf), and whether the “off-road” sticker is more than just optimistic marketing.

Warranty length, dealer network, and parts availability matter more on the road than a fancy brochure, especially once you’re a few hundred kays from anywhere.

If it passes those checks and the price stacks up, hitch it up with confidence; if not, there are plenty of local and imported alternatives on Tradingpost waiting for a look.
