About this page

central asian shepherd dog

The Central Asian Shepherd Dog, also known as the Alabai, is a robust livestock guardian bred to withstand harsh environments. Adult males weigh between 50-79 kg and stand 70-90 cm tall. They boast a dense double coat, perfect for the brutal Central Asian winters. Expect a fiercely protective temperament, making them excellent guard dogs but not for the faint-hearted or first-time owners.

New puppies in Australia can set you back from around AUD 1,000 to 3,000 depending on lineage and breeder reputation. Used or older dogs might be found on PuppyList or Tradingpost for less, but always check temperament and health.

For official breed standards and health info, consult relevant kennel clubs and breeder documentation.
