Moved from NSW to Victoria? You’ve got up to 6 months after becoming a Victorian resident to switch your licence, so breathe—then book a VicRoads appointment.
Bring your NSW licence, proof of identity and a Victorian residential address; you’ll do a quick eyesight check, get a new photo, and hand over the NSW card. If you’re on a full licence, no theory or drive test is normally required; P-platers get equivalent Victorian conditions. Pay the standard Vic licence fee and you’ll get an interim paper licence, with the plastic one arriving by post shortly after. If your interstate licence is expired or has issues, extra testing can be required—so don’t leave it to the last minute. Rego transfer is a separate job with its own timeframes and fees, just to keep things spicy.
