changing number plates : vicroads Page 8

If you're thinking about changing your number plates through VicRoads, you're in for a bureaucratic joyride. Essentially, you can transfer your existing plates to a new vehicle or order personalised plates for an extra cost. The process involves filling out specific forms, providing vehicle registration details, and paying fees which vary depending on plate type.

Standard plates typically cost less, while personalised or special series plates can set you back a few hundred dollars upfront plus ongoing renewal fees. You'll want to check the latest rules and fees directly on VicRoads or use services like ServiceCentral to streamline the paperwork. Remember, swapping plates without proper authorisation can lead to fines, so don’t just slap them on and hope for the best.
