Worried your car’s airbag might be the dodgy kind? Sensible move.
In Australia, check by entering your VIN on your carmaker’s recall page or the government Product Safety Australia database; there’s also the industry-backed “Is My Airbag Safe” checker.
If it flags a Takata recall—especially “critical/alpha”—don’t drive; call your dealer and book a free replacement immediately (towing or a loan car may be offered).
Bring your rego and VIN, confirm both driver and passenger bags, and don’t pay a cent—recall work is free.
Still unsure? Ring the dealer’s service desk with your VIN and they’ll sort it quicker than you can say “airbag inflator”.
