check number plate victoria Page 6

To check a number plate in Victoria, use the VicRoads online registration check and punch in the plate—easy as a snag on bread.

It’ll confirm if the rego is current, the expiry date, and basic vehicle details so you can make sure the car matches the tale being told.

Buying second-hand? Pair it with a PPSR search to see if there’s finance owing or if it’s been written off or stolen.

Remember, a rego check isn’t a roadworthy or a service history, and it won’t reveal the owner’s personal details (nor should it).

Do these checks before handing over any cash—yes, even if the seller swears their uncle’s a mechanic and the plates are “sweet as”.
