The Chinese Crested is a peculiar little dog that looks like it lost a battle with a hairbrush but somehow came out charming. They come in two varieties: Hairless, sporting a tuft of fur on their head, paws, and tail, and Powderpuff, which is covered in a soft coat of fur. Expect them to stand at around 28 to 33 cm tall and weigh between 4 to 5 kg. They are lively, affectionate, and surprisingly agile for their fragile appearance.
On the downside, the hairless variety needs regular skin care to prevent dryness and sunburn, making them less suitable if you’re lazy or forgetful. Prices for a Chinese Crested puppy in Australia can range from $1500 to $3500 AUD, with used or older dogs available on PuppyList or Tradingpost for less. Always check health clearances and breeder reputation before parting with your cash.
