The VicRoads Club Permit Scheme lets you enjoy a classic without handing over full registration every year.
Your car needs to be at least 25 years old, you must be a member of an approved club, and you pick either 45 or 90 days of use per year with a logbook—yes, you must fill it in every day you drive.
Paperwork is straightforward: Club Permit Application, Vehicle Eligibility and Standards Declaration signed by your club, plus a Certificate of Roadworthiness (or VASS approval if it’s seriously modified).
Fees are a fraction of normal rego and include TAC and plate costs; plates are issued specifically for club use and must be displayed.
Stick to the conditions (no commuting beyond what’s allowed, no sneaky daily-driver duty) or expect fines and a very frosty chat with both VicRoads and your club.
For the latest forms, fees and fine print, consult official VicRoads documentation.
