You must join an approved car club, apply with the right forms, and carry the permit and logbook in the car; pick 45 or 90 days and write it up each day you drive.
It’s not for commercial work or daily slogging up the Monash; misuse it and you’re effectively unregistered, which is about as fun as a flat battery in the rain.
