In Victoria, “club plates” are the VicRoads Club Permit Scheme—reduced rego for vehicles at least 25 years old, used on a logbook for limited days.
You must join an approved car club, apply with the right forms, and carry the permit and logbook in the car; pick 45 or 90 days and write it up each day you drive.
It’s not for commercial work or daily slogging up the Monash; misuse it and you’re effectively unregistered, which is about as fun as a flat battery in the rain.
Expect roadworthiness and modification paperwork to be checked, and fees are far lower than full rego—leaving more coin for fuel and questionable chrome. For exact requirements, check VicRoads’ current guidance.
