common problems with hyundai ioniq 5 Page 1249

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a head-turning bit of retro-future fun, but even spaceships have the odd rattle and blinking warning light.

• ICCU/12‑volt charging issues on some early cars causing a flat 12V and dash warnings; many were fixed via recall or updated parts/software.
• Fast‑charging variability in extreme temperatures; preconditioning (added on later software) helps the car hit proper speeds.
• Infotainment and driver‑assist quirks such as the odd reboot or over‑eager lane keeping, usually tamed by updates.
• Trim creaks and inside‑edge tyre wear on big‑wheel cars; an alignment and sensible pressures work wonders.

When buying used, confirm recall work, test a DC fast charge after a decent drive, and inspect tyres. Hyundai backs it with a 5‑year/unlimited‑km vehicle warranty and an 8‑year/160,000 km high‑voltage battery warranty. Treat it well and it’ll do the silent-running sci‑fi thing for years.
