compulsory third party insurance sa Page 136

In SA, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance is the legally required cover that’s bundled with your rego—no rego, no cover, no excuses.

It pays for personal injuries to other road users if you cause a crash, but it won’t fix bent bumpers, fences or your bruised ego.

You choose an approved CTP insurer when renewing registration, and premiums vary by vehicle type, garaging postcode and a few other thrilling admin details.

Claims go through the insurer shown on your rego; they handle liability, medical costs and the paperwork mountain.

Want damage cover for cars and property? That’s comprehensive or third party property—separate policies, separate dollars.

Short version: keep the rego current, pick your insurer, and expect CTP to cover people, not panels.
