In Australia, the Volkswagen Golf range is a tidy ladder from sensible commuter to pocket rocket.
110TSI (1.4‑litre turbo, 110 kW, 8‑speed auto, FWD) in Golf, Life and R‑Line trims; GTI (2.0‑litre turbo, ~180 kW, 7‑speed DSG, FWD); and R (2.0‑litre turbo, ~235 kW, 7‑speed DSG, AWD).
Bodies are mostly hatch; the R also comes as a wagon—because groceries deserve giggles too.
Options typically include Luxury or Sound & Vision packs, bigger wheels, adaptive dampers, and a pile of driver assists.
Expect fuel use around ~6–7 L/100 km (110TSI) up to ~8–9 L/100 km (GTI/R), depending on how optimistic your right foot is.
Consult official documentation for exact figures.
