convert international license victoria

In Victoria, you must convert your overseas licence within about six months of becoming a resident—after that, no more cruising on foreign plastic. Book a VicRoads appointment and bring proof of identity, proof of Victorian address, your overseas licence, and a NAATI translation if it isn’t in English. You’ll do an eyesight check and usually the Road Rules Knowledge Test and Hazard Perception Test; a Drive Test may be required unless you’re from a recognised country or otherwise exempt. Fees apply, and your Victorian licence class will mirror what your experience and documents support. Visitors can drive temporarily on an overseas licence, but residents need to convert. Check VicRoads’ current requirements before you queue—bureaucracy loves a moving target.
