Moving from NZ and want your licence to play nice in Victoria? Good news: with a current full NZ licence, you can usually convert to a Victorian full licence without knowledge or drive tests. Book an appointment at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre, bring proof of identity and Victorian address, your NZ licence (it’s already in English), and payment for fees. If you’re now a Victorian resident, do the swap within about six months of settling in. Learner or restricted/provisional NZ licences convert to the equivalent Victorian stage and may involve tests or conditions. Expect to surrender the NZ card and, if details are fuzzy or expired, be ready for extra checks—bureaucracy loves a plot twist.
