Cubic weight is how Australia Post decides whether your parcel is a featherweight show-off or actually heavy. The formula is Length × Width × Height (in metres) × 250 to get kilograms; equivalently, using centimetres it’s (L × W × H in cm) ÷ 4000. You’re charged on whichever is greater: actual weight or cubic weight—no free rides for giant boxes full of bubble wrap. Example: 50 × 40 × 30 cm = 0.06 m³, so cubic weight is 15 kg; if the box weighs 8 kg, you’ll pay for 15 kg. Measure the outside of the packed parcel, keep a tape handy, and don’t forget couriers may round up. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
