In NSW, you customise plates through the official portal: pick a style, punch in your combo, and see if it’s available—no rude words, obviously.
You’ll choose from formats and designs, then pay an upfront order fee plus an annual retention fee; shorter combos and fancy finishes cost more.
Order online via Service NSW/MyPlates, nominate the vehicle or reserve the combo, and your plates will arrive once approved.
Plates must be assigned to a registered vehicle before you fit them, and you can transfer or hold them if you change cars.
Lost interest? Park them “on hold” for a fee instead of surrendering them.
If in doubt about sizes or mounting rules, check the official fitment guidance before breaking out the screwdriver.
