In Queensland, daytime running lights (DRLs) are legal to use and you’re not required to have them; if your car has them from the factory, let them do their thing. If you retrofit DRLs, they must be white and installed/wired to Australian Design Rules—typically switching off (or dimming) when headlights come on. Don’t use fog lights as pretend DRLs (that’s a fine waiting to happen), and don’t cruise on parkers alone—they’re not for driving. No DRLs? Low beam in the daytime is perfectly acceptable and often safer, especially in rain or on country roads. For the letter-of-the-law specifics, check Queensland Transport and Main Roads guidance for your exact vehicle setup.
