diesel or petrol suv Page 3

Choosing between a diesel or petrol SUV comes down to how you drive, not what your uncle swears by at the sausage sizzle. Do lots of highway kilometres or tow regularly? Diesel makes life easier with long range and low‑down shove. Mostly short city hops? Petrol is quieter, cheaper to buy, and won’t throw a DPF tantrum. Consider the trade‑offs below—no winners, just realities:

• Diesel pros: strong torque for towing, better highway economy, long touring range.
• Diesel cons: higher purchase/servicing costs, DPF issues on short trips, fuel can be pricier and noisier.
• Petrol pros: lower upfront cost, smoother/quieter around town, simpler emissions hardware.
• Petrol cons: higher fuel use, less low‑rpm torque for towing, range drops fast when loaded.

Factor Aussie fuel prices, servicing intervals and resale, then pick what matches your routine—not the logo on the bowser.
