digital piano review Page 28

Looking for a digital piano that doesn’t feel like a plastic plank? Aim for weighted (graded hammer) keys, at least 192–256-note polyphony, and decent speakers (2x12–20W) if it’s for the lounge, not the stage.

Yamaha and Kawai nail piano realism, Roland’s modelling is lush, and Casio punches above its price—pick the one your ears and fingers like, not the badge. For home practice, a furniture-style console keeps things tidy; for gigging, a stage piano plus monitors is the go. Expect roughly $700–$1,200 AUD for good entry models, $1,500–$3,000 mid-tier, and more if you fancy wooden keys and bragging rights. Try before you buy, and ignore demo songs—they lie beautifully. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
