It’s roughly 380 km from Roma to Emerald, QLD, by road, give or take a few detours for coffee or curiosity.
The straightforward run is via the Carnarvon Hwy (A7) through Injune and Rolleston, then up past Springsure on the Gregory Hwy, taking about 4–4.5 hours in normal conditions.
There’s fuel and pies at Injune, Rolleston, and Springsure, so neither you nor the ute need suffer.
Expect mostly good bitumen and the occasional kangaroo with poor judgement—dawn and dusk deserve extra respect.
Towing or hitting weather? Add a smidge more time and pack patience; out here a storm can rewrite plans faster than your GPS can say “recalculating.”
