dodge ram review australia Page 445

The Dodge Ram in Australia (think RAM 1500 and its burlier siblings) is less ute, more suburban freight train.

The 1500’s 5.7‑litre Hemi V8 and 8‑speed auto haul smoothly, with towing up to 4.5 tonnes and a ride that laughs at corrugations.

Cabin space is vast; the tray’s big enough for a small moon, though payload sits around ~800–900 kg depending on spec.

Reality check: it’s wider than many carparks, and real-world fuel use sits around 13–16 L/100 km if you’re gentle.

Local RHD remanufacture is tidy and the tech’s decent, but servicing and rubber aren’t cheap, and it does love a bowser.

If you tow big and tour wide, it’s brilliant; if you commute in tight suburbs, it’s about as subtle as a kangaroo in a china shop.
