Driving in QLD is equal parts sunshine, distance and the occasional kangaroo auditioning for Fast & Furious.

Typical limits are 50 km/h in built‑up areas and 100–110 km/h on highways, with a 0.05 BAC for full‑licence drivers—speed and drink checks are taken seriously.

Tolls around Brisbane are cashless, so set up an e‑tag or visitor pass unless you fancy a souvenir invoice.

Out west, roads can be long, unsealed and remote: carry water, fuel, a spare tyre (two if you’re ambitious) and tell someone your route.

Watch for wildlife at dawn and dusk, mind the 40 km/h school zones, and give road trains plenty of room—overtake only when the horizon agrees.

Do that, and Queensland driving is a breeze—just don’t underestimate the map; it’s bigger than your latte suggests.
