driving without headlights fine victoria Page 250

In Victoria, driving without headlights when it’s dark or visibility is poor is an offence, and the ticket writers don’t miss.

The exact infringement and any demerit points depend on the specific clause (e.g., failing to use headlights when required, or defective/obscured lamps) and are updated regularly.

Expect a monetary sting—typically in the low hundreds of AUD—and potentially demerit points depending on circumstances.

Daytime running lights aren’t a substitute at night, and if your auto‑lights don’t wake up, you’re still on the hook.

Check the current schedule on VicRoads or Fines Victoria, and if in doubt, flick them on and carry on.
