dual cab bent chassis Page 314

Yes, dual-cab utes can bend a chassis—usually when physics collects its winnings after we overload them and go charging across corrugations.

It’s mostly about GVM, axle loads, and too much weight hanging behind the rear axle with big tow-ball download or a heavy canopy.

• Stay within the vehicle’s GVM, rear-axle rating, and tow-ball download; weigh it loaded, not in brochure-land.
• Distribute mass forward of the axle; avoid point-loading with airbag helpers alone on heavy setups.
• Use a weight-distribution hitch for heavy trailers and slow down on whoops and corrugations.
• After hard trips, inspect for ripples near spring mounts, misaligned tubs, or doors that won’t close square.

Treat a ute like a light truck, not a mining tipper, and it’ll cop the rough stuff without turning banana-shaped.
