That little emission light is your car politely saying “I’m not breathing right.”
It flags a fault in the emissions system—common culprits include a loose fuel cap, dodgy oxygen sensor, failing catalytic converter, or a wheezy MAF/EGR.
If it’s steady, you can usually drive gently and book a diagnosis; if it’s flashing, that’s a misfire party—pull over and call for help before you cook the cat.
Grab an OBD-II scan (many parts stores or mechanics do it), fix the underlying cause, and the light will shuffle off on its own.
Ignore it and you risk lousy fuel economy, higher emissions, and a repair bill that makes your wallet whimper.
