If you’re chasing “EV stocks” in Australia, you’re mostly buying the ecosystem rather than a local Tesla clone. The big exposure is mining: lithium and nickel names feeding batteries, plus integrated players across the supply chain. You’ll also find battery tech and materials outfits, charging infrastructure plays, and old-school auto dealers expanding EV line-ups.

Returns can swing wilder than a kelpie on a beach—commodity prices, policy shifts and global demand move these names fast. Many investors use a broad battery/EV-focused ETF on the ASX for diversified exposure, then add a couple of single names for spice. Do your homework on costs, balance sheets and dilution risk, and remember: information only—research before you punt the savings.
