everest vs fortuner

Ford Everest vs Toyota Fortuner: both ladder‑frame 7‑seat SUVs that ferry kids on Friday and find corrugations on Sunday.

In Australia, the Everest (Ranger‑based) brings more grunt and gadgets, while the Fortuner (HiLux‑based) fights back with rugged simplicity and stellar resale.

Typical figures: Everest towing up to 3,500 kg with diesel up to 184 kW/600 Nm; Fortuner towing up to 3,100 kg with a 2.8‑litre diesel ~150 kW/500 Nm.

• Everest pros: strong towing and V6 option; roomier third row; cushier ride
• Everest cons: bigger footprint; pricier; thirstier when driven hard
• Fortuner pros: tough and lighter; dependable; excellent resale and dealer reach
• Fortuner cons: less power; firmer ride; tighter third row and cargo space
