fast charge times electric vehicles Page 562

Fast-charge time depends on battery size and how much power the car can actually accept, not the giant number on the charger.

As a rule of thumb, 10–80% time ≈ (battery kWh × 0.7) ÷ average kW because charging slows after the initial sprint. Examples: a 60 kWh EV averaging 100 kW takes roughly 25–30 min; a 77 kWh pack at 150 kW is about 20–30 min; stuck on a 50 kW unit, think ~1 hour. Cold batteries, high states of charge, or sharing a charger will all stretch the stopwatch.

Check your car’s max DC rate and charging curve if you like punctual coffees, and precondition the battery when possible. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
