fines for eating while driving victoria Page 197

There’s no specific Victorian law banning eating while driving, but if that burger stops you having proper control of the car, you can be fined. Police typically use the “proper control” rule to issue on‑the‑spot penalties, and if your driving drifts into careless or dangerous territory, the punishment ramps up fast. Think of it this way: food isn’t illegal—distraction is—and the moment it affects control, you’re in the crosshairs. Best practice is simple: park before you unwrap, or use a bay to regroup. Check VicRoads or official legislation for the latest penalty amounts, as they change.
