fix car paint scratch

First, do the fingernail test: if your nail catches, it’s likely through the clear coat; if not, a polish might save the day.

Wash, dry, and decontaminate, then try a scratch remover or fine compound on a microfibre pad, working small and slow.

If you can see primer or metal, use factory touch-up paint, a dab of clear coat, then carefully wet-sand 2000–3000-grit and polish like a saint with weekends off.

Deep gouge? Call a mobile paint repairer—cheaper than a respray and kinder to your sanity.

Whatever you do, mask edges, keep pressure light, and stop when it looks better rather than “perfect,” because perfect ends with you shopping for a new panel.
