fix paint scratches on car

Got paint scratches? First, wash and dry the area so you’re not rubbing grit into the clear coat—nothing says “DIY” like polishing in sand.

Light, fingernail-only marks usually live in the clear coat: use a dedicated scratch remover or polish, then seal with wax or a sealant.

If your nail catches and you can see primer or metal, use touch-up paint in thin layers, let it cure, then gently wet-sand (2000–3000 grit) and polish back to a shine.

Deep gouge across a panel? That’s a job for a pro; expect roughly AUD 150–600 for a spot repair, more if blending is needed.

Work in the shade, use quality microfibre, and be patient—rushing just makes a shinier, slightly more tragic mistake.
