focus rs vs golf r Page 63

Hot hatch grudge match: Focus RS vs Golf R—one’s the track-day terrier, the other’s the tailored rocket for the school run.

• Pros: Rapid and refined, AWD grip, comfy ride, and a cabin that won’t frighten your in-laws.
• Cons: A bit conservative in character, Mk8 infotainment quirks, and exhaust theatrics are more mutter than shout.

• Pros: Ferocious turn-in, Drift Mode giggles, manual-only purity, and serious track stamina.
• Cons: Ride firmness like a gym floor, cabin feels dated, scarce and pricey used, and early-build head-gasket gremlins reported in some markets.
