ford focus automatic transmission recall Page 9620

Short version: if your Ford Focus has the dual‑clutch “PowerShift” auto (DPS6) from roughly 2011–2016, there have been recalls and service campaigns in Australia. They target things like clutch contamination and failing transmission control modules, which cause shuddering, hesitation and the sort of gear changes that make coffee leap out of its cup. Fixes have included software updates, seal and clutch pack replacements, and TCM swaps, with warranty or goodwill coverage extended in many cases. To confirm, run your VIN with a Ford dealer or the Product Safety Australia database and ask for any outstanding recall or customer-satisfaction programs. Later Focus models with the conventional torque‑converter auto aren’t part of the DPS6 drama, so knowing your exact variant matters. If you’re buying used, insist on paperwork for transmission work—your wallet will thank you.
