ford ranger tray weight capacity Page 2

For most Australian Ford Rangers, the tray payload falls between about 900–1300 kg, but the exact figure varies by cab style, 4x2/4x4, engine and whether it’s a tub or alloy/steel tray.

Remember, payload is GVM − kerb weight − occupants/cargo/accessories − towball download, so bullbars, canopies and a full esky all nibble away at what you can throw in the back.

Dual‑cab 4x4 models usually sit at the lower end of that range, while single‑cab cab‑chassis with alloy trays hover toward the top.

Axle load limits and tyre ratings still apply, and tailgates aren’t designed to support concentrated loads when open—use the tray floor and tie‑downs.

When in doubt, check the compliance plate and the owner’s manual for the exact payload for your VIN. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
