frame number same as vin Page 1177

Short answer: usually not. In Australia the VIN is a 17‑character identifier used on the compliance plate and rego, while the chassis/frame number is the physical stamping on the vehicle. On most modern cars the VIN is the master ID; on many motorcycles the stamped frame number effectively is the VIN, but older vehicles may have shorter chassis numbers that differ. Engine numbers are a separate thing entirely, so don’t panic when that one doesn’t match. Check the windscreen tag or driver’s door jamb (cars) and the headstock/frame spar (bikes), and make sure the numbers on the paperwork align with the VIN. If they don’t match each other but the rego matches the VIN, you’re fine; if nothing matches, walk away faster than a magpie in spring.

Nothing matching right now, but new listings go up all the time.
