Yes, you can whip up a free car log book template without selling a kidney to a stationery shop.

For Aussie tax or fleet records, you just need a simple layout that captures the essentials each trip: date, odometer start/end, from/to, purpose, kilometres, driver name/rego.

Add a row to record fuel or toll receipts if you’re being extra grown‑up, and total the kilometres per day and per period.

If you’re using it for ATO claims, keep a continuous 12‑week logbook period and note the opening and closing odometer for that span—then check ATO guidance for the exact requirements and retention rules.

Print a few sheets, staple them, and you’ve got a “system” so organised it might start bossing you around.
