free caravan sites nsw Page 119

Chasing free caravan sites in NSW? Of course you are—why pay for dirt when you can park on it for nix and watch the kookaburras do stand-up.

Your best bets are state forests (many allow dispersed camping), council rest areas, and the odd riverside reserve; national parks usually require fees, while showgrounds are often low-cost rather than free. Facilities are basic at best—think pit toilets or none, no mains power, and BYO water, so a 12V setup and a tidy grey-water plan help. Always check local signage and council or State Forest rules, heed fire bans and time limits (often 24–48 hours), and leave no trace. Use camping apps and council/State Forest websites to zero in on current, legal free spots, and arrive early in busy school-holiday periods. Need a solar panel or awning to make free feel fancy? Tradingpost has the bits without the snobbery.
