fuel drive off qld Page 1031

In Queensland, a fuel drive-off isn’t cheeky—it’s stealing, and police can charge you under the Criminal Code if there’s intent not to pay. Service stations log plates, pull the CCTV, and can report deliberate drive-offs to Policelink; you’ll likely be on the hook for the fuel and investigation details either way.

If you genuinely forgot—new card, crying toddler, brain like a sieve—go back and pay fast; most stations and police treat honest mistakes very differently from fraud. Consequences for proven theft can include a court date, a criminal record, restitution, and fines, which is a pricey way to save fifty bucks of unleaded.
