fuel efficient 4x4 australia Page 533

If you mean medium AWDs, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid AWD is the poster child, sipping about 4.7–5.0 L/100 km on the official cycle.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV AWD can post a headline ~1.5 L/100 km when you charge daily, but expect mid‑sixes once the battery’s flat.

For proper ladder‑frame 4x4s, the frugal end is diesel: Isuzu D‑MAX and Mazda BT‑50 4x4 autos hover around ~8.0 L/100 km, Toyota Prado sits near ~7.9 L/100 km, and a LandCruiser 300 will do roughly ~8.9–9.5 L/100 km.

Real‑world economy swings wildly with tyres, roof racks, bull bars and towing—brochure numbers vanish faster than a servo meat pie.

Shopping used? Tradingpost has plenty of thrifty AWDs and diesel 4x4s to compare without melting your fuel card.
