future of electric cars Page 6

The future of electric cars is basically here; it just hasn’t finished installing the chargers yet.

Battery tech is getting cheaper and denser, ranges creeping past real-world long-weekend territory, and solid-state keeps flirting from the wings like a rock star late to stage.

Australia’s charging network is growing along the big routes, fleets are electrifying first, and yes, utes and SUVs are joining because we’re not giving up our Bunnings runs.

Expect smarter bidirectional charging, tighter integration with home solar, and less “range anxiety” than socks after a spin cycle.

Prices should keep easing as volumes climb and local minerals pull their weight, though peak-time electricity costs will still need a firm talking-to.

In short: quieter, cleaner, quicker—and much less petrol station coffee.
