german town outside adelaide

You’re thinking of Hahndorf, the delightfully German township in the Adelaide Hills.

It’s about 25–30 km south‑east of Adelaide, Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement and absolutely stacked with bakeries, bratwursts and beer halls.

The tree‑lined Main Street is all timber facades and pretzel aromas, with local wineries lurking just down the road.

Turn up hungry, leave heavier, and maybe grab a strudel for the drive back—purely for scientific research, of course.
