grease lightning movie

You’re probably after “Greased Lightning” (1977), the biopic where Richard Pryor plays Wendell Scott, NASCAR’s first Black driver—proper hero stuff.

It’s more grit than glitz: small budgets, big heart, and racing scenes that smell like hot brakes and stubborn dignity.

Don’t confuse it with the song from “Grease”; this one swaps jazz hands for busted knuckles and Jim Crow–era headwinds.

If you want motorsport history with bite, it’s a tidy watch—and yes, the real story is even tougher than the film lets on.
