grey import Page 7

Ah, the world of grey imports—where cars come from overseas markets, dodging the usual Australian showroom razzmatazz. These vehicles can be a steal or a headache, depending on your patience and mechanical sympathy. Grey imports are often cheaper than their locally sold counterparts, but beware: they may lack official warranty, have different specs, and require compliance modifications to meet Aussie standards.

Prices vary wildly depending on make, model, and condition, but expect to pay roughly 20-40% less than local new prices, with used prices similarly discounted. You’ll find these on Tradingpost and CarShowroom, but always check for proper import approvals and service history.

In sum, a grey import is a gamble—potentially rewarding for those who love a project and a bargain, but not for the faint-hearted.
