Short answer: a current Australian-spec Volkswagen Golf GTI (Mk8) does 0–100 km/h in about 6.4 s, which is quick enough to embarrass last decade’s heroes.

Its 2.0‑litre turbo makes 180 kW/370 Nm through a 7‑speed DSG; older Mk7.5 cars are typically ~6.2–6.4 s depending on trim.

Special editions like the GTI 45 or Clubsport can be a whisker quicker; tyres, surface and weather will nudge the stopwatch.

0–100 km/h: ~6.4 s (Mk8 AU). Consult official documentation for exact figures.
