gtm weight meaning

Ah, the elusive "GTM weight"—a term that sounds like it belongs in a spy thriller rather than a car spec sheet. In the automotive world, GTM usually refers to "Gross Trailer Mass," which is the maximum weight your tow bar setup is allowed to safely handle. It’s the total weight of the trailer including its load that the vehicle can tow without risking a fiery disaster or turning your drive into an insurance claim.

Gross Trailer Mass (GTM) is crucial for anyone towing caravans, boats, or that obnoxiously large trailer full of band gear. Remember, exceeding this weight can lead to poor handling, brake failure, and a very expensive day out. Always check your vehicle’s handbook or ServiceCentral for specs before hitching up.
