gwm cannon-xsr review

The GWM Cannon-XSR is the brand’s off-road-leaning ute, big on kit and swagger without the wallet-threatening price tag. It builds on the Cannon’s generous equipment with tougher suspension tuning, underbody protection and all-terrain intentions that actually pass the pub-test once the track gets scrappy. On-road, it’s comfy enough for the commute, though the ride can fidget when unladen and the powertrain feels more “steady Eddie” than sprinter. Cabin tech is generous for the money, but the software can be a bit menu-maze and some plastics remind you where the budget went. Safety kit is plentiful and sometimes overenthusiastic with beeps, and GWM’s long warranty and improving dealer network sweeten the proposition. If you want a weekend warrior without paying brand-tax, the XSR makes a cheeky case for itself.
